Design
The purpose of this project is to create responsive design for a website, a mobile app, and a tablet application that addresses the topic of a civic issue. I felt driven to work on the topic of resources and funding available in the state of Colorado to mothers and their young children. The design provides a solution to this issue by providing users with free information on pregnancy, motherhood, post-partum, etc. and having easy access to applications for government assistance. A focus of the project was researching user needs, gathering feedback from screen designs and prototypes, and making refinements as needed.
My app aims to provide low-income mothers with resources and important information to help equip them with what they need and establish a good foundation for motherhood. The app will provide quick links for filing out applications for SNAP and WIC that provide financial assistance. Single mothers will be able to apply for multiple Colorado grants for insurance, childcare and much more. The app can aid mothers in feeling more prepared and informed by providing free classes on childcare, labor, breastfeeding, and other essential subjects. It will also be ideal to include a “hand up” exchange feature for users to post phots of baby items that they no longer need and are not provided by the state and federal programs and coordinate a safe location where other users in the area can pick up these items if needed.
